It’s the return of the #LaxTop5

From the Yale Daily News: Standing on Shay’s shoulders.

Before former Athletics Director Tom Beckett hired Andy Shay in 2003, the Yale men’s lacrosse team was nowhere near the national spotlight. The Bulldogs had emerged as No. 1 in the country only once before. That was in 1883.

Chris Gray is the future: Chris Gray highlights 2020 resurgence for UNC men’s lacrosse.

The game against then-No. 15 Johns Hopkins on Saturday put the difference between this Tar Heel team and last year’s on full display. The most clear and obvious one? Chris Gray.

Blessed: Fox 5 in NYC did a great segment on Stony Brook goalie Michael Bollinger and his side gig as a volunteer firefighter.

By day, Michael Bollinger is making saves for the Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team. By night, he’s in a position to potentially save lives as a volunteer firefighter.

Make sure you read Anish’s most recent post for US Lacrosse Magazine.

The beauty of lacrosse lies in its connectivity. Each position and each movement impacts the other. A well-timed slide leads to a poor angle shot. A poor angle shot leads to a save. A save leads to an outlet and a clear. A dodging midfielder draws a slide to move the defense. A few passes later, a crease attackman finishes on the doorstep. Strike the cymbal.

What’s Up, New PhilaJersey?

G-T-Later: Nightclubs made famous by ‘Jersey Shore’ cast are up for auction.

It’s the end of an era — at least, Seaside Heights hopes it is. In a month, Karma and the Bamboo Bar — two of the town’s party venues the “Jersey Shore” cast frequented for years — will be auctioned off, just a year after the clubs’ parent company filed for bankruptcy.

World/National News

Oh boy: CDC warns Americans of “significant disruption” from coronavirus.

Until now, health officials said they’d hoped to prevent community spread in the United States. But following community transmissions in Italy, Iran and South Korea, health officials believe the virus may not be able to be contained at the border and that Americans should prepare for a “significant disruption.”
