From the Capital Gazette: Navy Lacrosse resumes practice after norovirus outbreak.

We released our Week 3 College Crosse Top 20 Poll yesterday.

We had been waiting for a week with upsets and real chaos and we got it this past week, with nearly half of our Top 10 from last week taking losses. This has meant the biggest shake-up in the Top 20 yet, with there being no real consensus after the top spot in the poll. Fun!

Ryan, Adam, Safe, myself, and newest member Caroline Darney, who used to vote in the Inside Lacrosse Top 20 and has covered lacrosse for Streaking the Lawn, our Virginia blog here at SB Nation (welcome Caroline!) took part in the voting and this will be the group that constitutes the College Crosse Top 20 for this season.

Check out some highlights from the Harvard vs. UMass game from last weekend.

US Lacrosse mourns the death of Chief Operating Officer & Hall of Famer George W. McGeeney Jr.

George W. McGeeney Jr., Chief Operating Officer for US Lacrosse, died suddenly on Friday, Feb. 21. McGeeney had joined the US Lacrosse staff earlier this month, relishing the opportunity to reconnect with a sport that had such a tremendous influence on his life.

“Our hearts are heavy with the shock that such a passionate, vibrant soul has passed,” said US Lacrosse CEO Steve Stenersen. “We were incredibly excited to benefit from George’s leadership, and I have no doubt that his experience and energy would have had a profound impact on our organization’s ongoing development. He will always be remembered as one of our sport’s all-time greats.”

From the Atlanta Business Chronicle: Georgia Swarm owner said that the Atlanta Blaze relocating to Philadelphia is “Disappointing for the growth of lacrosse.”

From Syracuse.com: Syracuse lacrosse earns highest ranking in three years.

The Syracuse lacrosse team avoided the upset bug last weekend, and as a result is closer to the top of the national polls than it’s been in a few seasons. SU climbed two spots to No. 3 in this week’s USILA coaches’ poll, released on Monday.
