Coach Tiffany’s “Cultural Thursdays” have made a big impact on the Cavs.

When new coaches take over athletic programs – no matter what the sport, or how successful the program was previously – they want to put their own imprint on them and build their own culture. When Lars Tiffany took over as the head coach of the University of Virginia men’s lacrosse team in 2016 – succeeding his former coach and mentor – Dom Starsia, he wasn’t immediately sure how he would go about making the program his own.

“I thought the man-up getting three today [against Penn] was huge,” Tillman said. “[When] teams make a mistake, if you can pump one in, it does go a long way.”

After Penn State handled its business against Saint Joseph’s last Saturday, the team’s perspective immediately shifted. The Nittany Lions have their sights set on the daunting task ahead: No. 3 Yale. “We’re excited for the opportunity,” captain Nick Cardile said. “Because of last year, it’s gonna be a little vengeance.”

ajor League Lacrosse Commissioner is proud to announce today that the Philadelphia Barrage are back. The team will operate under Mark Burdett and Spencer Ford will make his head coaching debut for the Barrage.

Rest in peace: Westminster Christian School students mourn lacrosse player who died in boat crash.

Friends, family members and Westminster Christian School students and faculty are mourning a 17-year-old who died in a boat crash on Sunday afternoon off the Florida Keys. Students identified the victim as Lucas Alvarez, a varsity lacrosse team player who was set to graduate from the private school in Palmetto Bay later this year and was preparing to attend the Universal Technical Institute in Orlando.

Bring out the brooms: Lacrosse teams sweep Johns Hopkins in Battle of Charles Street.

The men’s and women’s lacrosse teams both defeated Charles Street rival Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Ridley Athletic Complex. The No. 11 women’s team topped the Blue Jays 16-7 in their season opener to start 1-0, while the No. 16 men’s team improved to 1-1 in their home opener with a 10-7 victory.
