Jake, Ryan, & I taped the newest CROSSECAST yesterday where we reviewed the action from Week 2.

All but one of the 75 teams in NCAA Men’s Lacrosse have started the season and that means we’ve got a lot to get to in this edition of COLLEGE CROSSECAST. Contenders are starting to appear and we’re starting to get a little bit of a better feel of how this season progresses. And looming on the horizon is a huge weekend that will answer even more questions.

From US Lacrosse Magazine: The MLL will cease operations of the Atlanta Blaze.

Major League Lacrosse announced today that the league will not operate the Atlanta Blaze for the 2020 MLL season. The Atlanta Blaze had their best season on record in 2019 and saw Alex Woodall win Rookie of the Year and Liam Byrnes win Defensive Player of the Year.

Choose your weapon wisely.

From The Diamondback: Maryland men’s lacrosse’s young defense stepped up to ignite a comeback vs. Penn.

As the second half progressed and the Maryland attack attempted to find its footing, its youthful backline stood tall, fueling a late rally on Saturday. “I think in the second half, our mentality was just, ‘We gotta be ready for those guys, we know they’re gonna look to shoot, look to score,’” Makar said. “Our defense just stuck together one stop at a time — we came together in the second half.”

Sharing is caring: UNC men’s lacrosse displays team-first mentality in blowout win over Lafayette.

The No. 8 North Carolina men’s lacrosse team has cruised through its early stretch of games this season, defeating its first three opponents by a combined 37 goals. This staggering goal count can largely be attributed to the 24-8 victory the Tar Heels had against unranked Lafayette on Saturday, the team’s first 20-goal game since the 2019 opener.

SAD!

Jason Knox had a huge day versus Siena on Saturday.

ne year ago from today is when then-freshman Jason Knox broke the Hobart College Division I and Northeast Conference record for most goals in a game with nine. On Saturday afternoon, Knox eclipsed his own record — against the same school.

What’s Up, New PhilaJersey?

Oh boy: Wawa has burgers now and they are beyond awful.

There are few more beloved statewide institutions in New Jersey than Wawa, in part because of its versatility. It’s a gas station. It’s a convenience store. It’s a sub shop. It’s whatever you need it to be, really. But do we need it to be a burger joint?

World/National News

Just another normal day at the beach: There are “ice volcanoes” popping up on the beach in Michigan.

The weather service said on its Twitter page that “it was a great day to visit the beach and watch the waves interact with the ice.” ”You never know what you’ll at the lake ... Today it was volcanoes,” the tweet said. It posted a photo of Oval Beach in Saugatuck with “a couple of ‘ice volcanoes’ erupting” as the sun set Sunday.
