Collge Crossecast Conference Preview - ACC

Jake, Adam, Ryan, & I got together on Thursday night to do our conference preview for the ACC and boy was it a good time.

2019 was a return to glory for Virginia not only in the NCAA, but also the ACC. After breaking a long losing streak in the conference, the Cavs were able to get revenge on their conference mates and win the ACC Tournament championship before they went on their national title run. But now 2020 beckons and four rivals are setting out to take back their crown.

College Crosse Pick ‘Em

Our College Crosse Pick ‘Em series is back! The rules are simple: we list a handful of games, each of us picks who we believe is going to win, and then you all make fun of us for our bad picks. Adam ran away with it last year, but hope springs eternal and we all start with a clean slate in 2020.

Here’s a wonderful article from the Washington Post on Maryland’s John Geppert.

The leaves had just begun changing into the colors of fall. The October air felt brisk, but the sun added some warmth. For a couple of hours, John Geppert and his parents walked through Taughannock Falls State Park and along the creekside trail that weaves between mountains. It was a beautiful, peaceful day.

Unfinished business: Nittany Lions seek first-ever national title.

While several of the Winter sports teams are garnering a lot of well-deserved attention and praise, we’d like to take a moment to add some lacrosse coverage to your wrestling/hockey/basketball. The Nittany Lion lacrosse team, fresh off their greatest season in program history in which they earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and reached the Final Four for the first time, will begin their season this coming Saturday, February 1st, when they host Lafayette.

Coach Tillman previewed the upcoming Terps season at Maryland’s spring sports media day.

Only a scrimmage for the Orange this weekend, but their digital media game is already in midseason form.

Speaking of the Orange, be on the lookout for Brett “Terror” Kennedy this season.

At least, that’s the impression Syracuse coach John Desko got after watching Kennedy dominate in scrimmages against Hofstra and Vermont last weekend. Kennedy, playing close defense in those games, blasted defenders, vacuumed up loose balls and even created some offense in transition. “He’s just a terror,” Desko summarized.

One of the new kids on the (college lacrosse) block gets started today: Merrimack opens Division I schedule at home.

After dominating NCAA Division II for the past two seasons, the Merrimack College men’s lacrosse team opens a new chapter Saturday afternoon at Duane Stadium versus Holy Cross.

Let’s get ready to rumble!!

Here’s a great Rutgers lacrosse preview from On The Banks.

Hope springs eternal and there are valid reasons to have it with this team, as Rutgers returns several key veteran players who are hoping to make this the season this a deep postseason run becomes a reality. The Scarlet Knights are led by a trio of standouts who were named among Big Ten Preseason Players To Watch in Adam Charalambides, Kieran Mullins, and Garrett Bullett.

Shout out to Lord Belichick: Tewaaraton Foundation announced that Bill Belichick is the recipient of the 2020 Spirit of Tewaaraton award.

The Tewaaraton Foundation is pleased to announce that Bill Belichick is the recipient of the 2020 Spirit of Tewaaraton award. Presented to an individual who has contributed to the sport of lacrosse in a way that reflects the spirit of the values and mission of the Tewaaraton Award, Belichick is the 14th Spirit of Tewaaraton honoree.

I miss the kid.
