GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here’s everything you need to know for September 13, 2019.

College Crosse News

Shout out to the Denver Pioneers for dropping some fresh content: Denver releases 2020 schedule featuring four teams that made the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

The University of Denver men’s lacrosse program, Presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, has announced its 2020 schedule, a slate that includes home games against Duke, North Carolina and Towson, head coach Bill Tierney announced on Thursday.

LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!!

Chris wrote a great post breaking down Denver’s 2020 schedule.

Circle These Dates

2/15 vs. Duke: One of the more marquee early season matchups, the series returns to Denver after spending the last two seasons in Durham. Both of those games saw Duke come out with a victory, including last season’s last second thriller. Denver won the last time the game was held at Peter Barton Stadium back in 2017.

3/7 at Notre Dame: If Johns Hopkins and Maryland is the lacrosse rivalry of the east, Denver and Notre Dame make up the lacrosse rivalry of the west. This will be the 25th time the two teams meet with the Fighting Irish holding a four-game edge. But the Pioneers have won seven of the last nine meetings, including three NCAA Tournament matchups.

Penn’s Mike Abbott was promoted to associate men’s lacrosse head coach.

Mike Abbott has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of the University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team as announced by Mike Murphy, the James H. Greene, Jr. Head Coach of the Quakers. “Mike did an excellent job running our offense in 2019,” said Murphy.

“We are excited for Coach Abbott’s second season at Penn as we build on last year’s success. His impact at Penn and his extensive coaching experience merit this promotion and we couldn’t be happier to have Mike on our staff, along with defensive coordinator Casey Ikeda and Dave Page, who does a great job with our goalies and face-off men.”

Mic’d up with OSU’s Dylan Sheridan.

I’m reloaded: Tucker Dordevic primed for return to ‘crazy’ season of Syracuse lacrosse.

Wednesday was the first official day of practice for the Syracuse lacrosse team’s fall season, an exciting landmark that still had to feel a bit redundant for the Orange’s Tucker Dordevic. Dordevic, a sophomore midfielder, is returning from a washed out 2019 that he missed because of a broken right foot.

Cleveland St. love the kids!!

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved the new goal mouth arc & new chest protectors & shoulder pads.

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved adding an arc within the goal-crease area to clearly define the “goal mouth” in men’s lacrosse. Starting with the 2020 season, the new arc will extend 6 feet from the center of the goal line to the goal lines extended. NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Rules Committee members think this adjustment will address concerns raised by head coaches and officials in the most recently completed men’s lacrosse rules survey.

Bump: Bucknell’s Conor Whipple was elevated to assistant coach.

Conor Whipple was elevated to Bucknell’s assistant men’s lacrosse coach, head coach Frank Fedorjaka announced Thursday. Whipple, who joined the Bison staff as a volunteer assistant coach ahead of the 2019 campaign, will continue to be involved in daily practice planning, recruiting and clinics. He works primarily with the goalies and in offensive player skill development.

From Orange to Big Red: Cornell added Paolo Ciferri to its staff as a volunteer assistant.

What’s Up, New PhilaYorkJersey?

Let’s all cool it down, folks: Philadelphia Police ask people to please stop calling 911 over spotted Lanternly sightings.

Philadelphia police have issued a public service announcement: Please do not contact authorities if you see a Spotted Lanternfly. Instead, the department said on Twitter that the insects are not a police issue and Philly should welcome “our new insect overlords.”

World/National News

Hard pass: Popeyes says you can BYOB (that’s B for Bun) and make yourself a chicken sandwich.

Popeyes knows you’re still sad about its chicken sandwich shortage. That’s why it’s suggesting a quick fix to ease your chicken sandwich cravings. Introducing BYOB: Bring Your Own Bun. That’s right. Popeyes is allowing guests to bring in their own buns, order its three-piece tenders and make their own chicken sandwiches right there on the spot.

#TeamEritrea until the day I expire, but I’d like to wish a happy New Year to the beautiful people of Ethiopia.
