Dress appropriately: Penn State lacrosse calling for Whiteout conditions at the Linc this Saturday

The NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Final Four is coming to Philadelphia this weekend and a local university is calling for fans to white out Lincoln Financial Field. Penn State Men’s Lacrosse is making their first Final Four appearance in program history this weekend after a 21-14 win over Loyola Maryland Sunday.

Penn State men’s lacrosse will make its first-ever appearance in the Final Four of the NCAA tournament on Saturday. The game may be slated for the Saturday before Memorial Day, but the team still has one simple request for Nittany Lion fans who plan on attending the game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia: Wear white.

Coincidence? I think not: Shortly after Penn State called for a Whiteout in Philadelphia, a Colorado lacrosse state title game was decided in the middle of a May snowstorm.

The two teams with the most boys lacrosse state championships, the Cherry Creek Bruins (6) and the Kent Denver Sundevils (5) took the field in a rainy game that turned into a blizzard midway through. Neither team took the upper hand staying even through the first half and into the third quarter before the weather turned from rain to snow.

First-year coach Eric Miccio starred on the front-end of OCC’s decade of dominance, winning two national championships for the Lazers in 2009-10. In his first season since taking over for Chuck Wilbur, the Lazers won their 12th lacrosse national title.
