College Crosse Weekend Scorecard For Week 6
Possible expansion of helmets in the women’s game.
I'm told @stonybrookbears, a first-year varsity GLAX program, will be wearing Cascade LX helmets in every game this season. Known for its "lightweight and ventilated design." To my knowledge, the only entire team that will be wearing helmets.https://t.co/EoUtIa9CH8

Marquette put in work against Michigan this weekend winning 16-13.
Tanner Thomson exploded for five goals, four in the first half, as Marquette men’s lacrosse jumped all over Michigan early and ended up with a 16-13 victory on Saturday at Valley Fields. With the win, Marquette did two things. First, they got their record on the year back up over .500 at 4-3. Second, they posted a second straight consistent performance to point the season onwards and upwards as things get much more difficult starting next week.
Lafayette love the kids!
Maryland looked good over the weekend versus Villanova.
During his midweek press conference, Maryland men’s lacrosse coach John Tillman said that his players would need to win their individual match-ups against a Villanova Wildcats defense that slid late. It looks like the Terps took that message to heart in a wire-to-wire, dominant 17-7 victory over Villanova. While the Terps’ offensive output will grab the headlines, it was the Terrapins stingy defense and sublime goaltending that rendered the outcome of the game a moot point heading into halftime. Maryland senior goalie, Danny Dolan made 13 saves - including 2 spectacular saves right at the crease – en route to a 72 percent save percentage in giving up just 5 goals on the day.
Congrats to BC’s coach Acacia.
Yesterday was special. Thank you to all of our amazing families, friends and fans who came out to celebrate the team and Acacia's 100-win milestone! #WeAreBC pic.twitter.com/xDwfWmr1K3

UMass popped the trunk against Utah yesterday.
Kevin Tobin scored five goals, Isaac Paparo caused four turnovers and the Massachusetts men’s lacrosse team demolished Utah 16-2 on Sunday for its fourth win in a row. Saturday was the third-straight game that UMass (5-3) has defeated its opponent by a margin of 10 goals or more. Before drubbing Utah (4-6), UMass defeated UMass Lowell 14-4 on Tuesday and squashed NJIT 19-7 last Saturday.
UMass began to pull away in the second quarter with three goals from Chris Connolly, one from Jeff Trainor and another from Tobin. Tobin scored earlier in the first quarter and proceeded to tack on three more in the second half. The sophomore middle was aggressive looking for his shot, with two of his five goals coming unassisted.
What’s Up, PhilaJersey?
WE DID IT: Sixers clinch playoff spot!!
The 76ers (45-25) entered Sunday’s showdown with the league-leading Milwaukee Bucks (52-18) unafraid – and it showed. With a playoff berth there for the taking, the Sixers led by as many as 14 points en route to a 130-115 victory, one of its biggest – if not the biggest – wins of the season to date. Joel Embiid scored a massive 40 points, including a dagger 3-pointer with 35.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Embiid stuffed his stat line with 15 rebounds, six assists, three steal, and a block in his fourth game back since the All-Star break.

Powerball now up to half a billion dollars.
With no one hitting all winning numbers in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing, the top prize has jumped above the half-billion-dollar mark. Now at a whopping $550 million for Wednesday night’s drawing, the jackpot has been growing for more than two months of twice-weekly drawings. And while the odds are stacked against players winning it — your chance is about 1 in 292 million — the IRS is always a guaranteed eventual winner.
