College Crosse Roundup For February 10, 2019: Bucknell Defeats Bryant 9-6

Six second half goals helped Bucknell turn a 3-3 halftime tie with Bryant into a 9-6 win. Bucknell’s offense was powered by Will Yorke, who cashed in on five goals in the second half. nearly doubling Bryant’s second half output. Christian Klipstein also had a big day today in the cage for Bucknell, with 13 saves in the game. He now has 432 saves in his career at Bucknell.

The game was very close in the first half. Bucknell jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the game thanks to a goal by Matt Barkauskas 25 seconds into the game. Barkauskas cashed in another goal early in the second as well. Bucknell had a two goal lead halfway through the second quarter, but Bryant was able to score a pair of goals in the last 6 minutes of the second to tie it up going into halftime. After that though, it was the Will Yorke show.

Yorke exploded for five goals in the second half, three of them coming within three and a half minutes of of each other late the third. Yorke would score two more in the fourth to finish with five on the afternoon. Bryant’s defense was pretty stout today, but the Bulldogs just didn’t have an answer for Yorke in the second half.

Marc O’Rourke had a good game for Bryant, as he finished with a hat-trick. The Bulldogs had a bad day taking care of the ball, as they team had 27 turnovers on the afternoon, with nine coming in the third quarter. The nine turnovers in the third wrecked Bryant’s offense, as Bucknell outshot them 10-0 that period.
