Towson’s 2020 schedule is out.
Last year’s conference championship rings have been issued and now it’s all eyes on 2020 as the Towson University men’s lacrosse team, under the guidance of ninth-year head coach Shawn Nadelen, has announced its schedule for the upcoming season. Seven home games adorn the 2020 schedule while the Tigers hit the road six times, including all three Greater Baltimore foes.
Check out Chris’ breakdown of Towson’s calendar.
The Towson Tigers are the 36th team in our 2020 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the fifth team from the CAA. Towson finished 11-5 overall in 2019 and 4-1 in CAA play. The Tigers won the CAA Championship over Drexel and were the sixth seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, Towson was eliminated by Maryland in overtime in the first round.
The BU Terriers also released their 2020 schedule.
Highlighted by seven home games, the Boston University men’s lacrosse team announced its 2020 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. BU will play 15 total games, including seven at Nickerson Field. The home slate features first-time visits by non-conference foes Ohio State and Utah as well as Patriot League contests against Bucknell, Lafayette, Navy and Army West Point.
Make sure you read Chris’ take of BU’s schedule as well.
The Boston University Terriers are the 35th team in our 2020 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the fourth team from the Patriot League. BU finished 11-6 overall in 2019 and 5-3 in Patriot League play. The Terriers fell to Lehigh in the Patriot League semifinals and saw leading scorer Chris Gray transfer to North Carolina.
Chris also broke down UMass Lowell’s schedule.
The UMass Lowell River Hawks are the 37th team in our 2020 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the fourth team from the America East. UMass Lowell finished 5-9 overall in 2019 and 2-4 in America East play. The River Hawks failed to qualify for the America East Tournament.
Cornell lacrosse head coach Peter Milliman, along with the University, were named as defendants in a negligence lawsuit filed after a woman was hit by a lacrosse ball. Gloria and Brian Abrams — residents of Orange County, California — visited Cornell on Aug. 19, 2017. Court documents show that while standing in the parking lot adjacent to Schoellkopf Field — where the lacrosse team practices — Gloria Abrams was hit by a lacrosse ball. The Abrams have filed suit two years after the incident.

The above article is behind a paywall, but here’s more background on the proposed bill.
State Senator Rich Funke is proposing a new bill that would toughen the penalty for assaulting referees. “Something has to change, we’re losing officials, (and) we don’t have officials to do the games,” said Peter McCabe, a sports official and victim of an attack in 2009.
History of lacrosse sheds light on Native American history.
Sid Jamieson ’64 is a key figure in the history of collegiate lacrosse. He was the head coach of the men’s lacrosse team at Bucknell University from its inception in 1968 until his retirement in 2005. He has been inducted into numerous halls of fame, including the SUNY Cortland C-Club. Jamieson remains the only Native American to have served as head coach of a Division I men’s lacrosse team.

What’s Up, New PhilaJersey?
The Eagles have five games left to play this season, and it increasingly looks like their only chance at salvaging it rests in the hands of a higher power. Their offense is a nuclear waste dump and is going nowhere fast, as they showed once again in a 17-9 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.

Scientists claim that dog years don’t really exist.
The idea that dogs age seven years for every one human year is wrong, scientists have claimed. Researchers at the University of California say they have found puppies are middle-aged by the time they are two, with dogs tending to then age more slowly in later life.
