Check out Chris’ breakdown of High Point’s 2020 schedule.
The High Point Panthers are the 11th team in our 2020 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the third team from the SoCon. High Point finished 13-3 overall in 2019 and 6-1 in SoCon play. The Panthers fell to Richmond in the SoCon Championship and missed out on the NCAA Tournament, despite having wins over Duke and Virginia.

2/1 at Maryland: One negative to High Point’s season was their strength of schedule. Despite beating Duke and Virginia, the Panthers had a disadvantage against them with the rest of their schedule, including against the rest of the SoCon. The Terrapins are back on their schedule after a one-year hiatus. But the last time the two teams met saw Maryland come out with a two-goal win.
Speaking of the Panthers, US Lacrosse Magazine posted a great article on High Point.
One of High Point’s most riveting moments last season came on a Monday in mid-February, when the visiting Panthers toppled Virginia. Only a few months earlier, coach Jon Torpey and his staff made the nearly 200-mile trip to Charlottesville to take a peek behind the curtain of another team just beginning its run at a national championship.
From the moment he was born, Daniel Hollis seemed to have a gift to make even the gloomiest of situations as well as moments of hope and celebration. March 9, 2000, was a particularly drab day. A heavy rainstorm could be seen out the window of Jennifer Kelly’s hospital room as she waited to deliver her son. But Kelly and Jason Hollis liken Daniel’s arrival to Simba’s introduction in “The Lion King.”

Pip pip, cheerio!: Gordon Ramsay is coming to Jersey.
The angriest man in food television has come to the Garden State. Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef famous for the “Hell’s Kitchen” and “MasterChef” programs on Fox — and the fiery temperament that created the “idiot sandwich” meme — has been spotted filming one of his shows at a Toms River restaurant.

What’s that now?: Former NASA scientist says they found life on Mars in the 1970s.
We may have already discovered the essence of life on Mars 40 years ago, according to a former NASA scientist. Gilbert V. Levin, who was principal investigator on a NASA experiment that sent Viking landers to Mars in 1976, published an article in the Scientific American journal last Thursday, arguing the experiment’s positive results were proof of life on the red planet.
