GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here’s everything you need to know for July 8, 2018.
What You Missed
Did you know MLB Network’s Robert Flores is a Lax Dad?
Lacrosse The Nation
Otterbein graduate and two-way midfielder Juan Contreras is very excited to be playing for Mexico, something he thought would never happen when he began his college career. Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch has more:
He played as a freshman on Otterbein’s first team, but he still wasn’t fully committed to the sport. A heart-to-heart with coach Colin Hartnett after the season was a turning point.
“In my mind, I wasn’t going to let him quit,” Hartnett said. “He made the decision that if he wanted to do it, he wanted to put all of himself into it.”
And so he did. He became a valuable two-way midfielder and was the first in what has become a valuable Kilbourne-to-Otterbein pipeline.
“Juan has always been one of my favorite guys I’ve ever coached,” Hartnett said. “I’m just incredibly proud of him, not as much for what he has done on the lacrosse field, but how he has grown into a man and become very successful after college.”
And a very friendly reminder that the World Championships begin on Thursday!
