College Crosse Top 20 Poll for April 9, 2018

We’re into the last month of the regular season

NCAA Basketball: Nebraska at Maryland Rafael Suanes-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve hit the last month of the regular season, and conference play is ramping up as teams fight for spots in conference tournaments and then the NCAA Tournament come May. That’s led to a lot of jockeying of positions in our Top 20 thanks to some very intriguing and very shocking results this past weekend.

The Maryland Terrapins have returned to the #1 spot in the College Crosse Top 20. After a month as the #2 team behind Albany, the Great Danes loss to UMBC coupled with an impressive road win Sunday night over Penn State allowed the Terps to jump back into the pole position. Maryland wasn’t a unanimous #1 in our Top 20 though, as Albany still grabbed one first place vote from our 10 voters. Despite that, the Danes slipped to #3, with the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays reaching their highest ranking of the season at #2. Denver at #4 and Duke at #5 rounds out the Top 5.

Just to review our pollsters for anyone new to our blog, this year we have Jack Goods (The Buffalo News), James Simmons (Troy Nunes), and Caroline Darney (SB Nation & Streaking The Lawn) voting alongside Chris, Ryan, Adam, Safe, and myself. Additionally, we asked new writers Dan & Skyler to join us in voting for the remainder of the regular season, which gives us a total of 10 voters in our Poll.

You can find our official College Crosse Top 20 Poll for this week directly below (Numbers within ()s indicate the number of 1st place votes a team received). Moreover, below the official Top 20 graph you can find our ballots for this week’s Poll.
