Connor O'Hara (4g-2a) and OT hero Sean O'Brien (4g-1a) led the attack while Christian Klipstein made 11 saves, including two with the score tied at eight all. #rayBucknell pic.twitter.com/hHRmQgwDpt
The Bucknell Bison went up to New Haven this evening and upset the Yale Bulldogs 9-8 in overtime. Bucknell’s WIll Sands had a good night with three assists, but most of BU’s heavy hitting tonight came from Connor O’Hara (4 Gs & 2 As) and Sean O’Brien (4 Gs & 1 A). Special shout out to Bucknell goalie Christian Klipstein who finished the game with 11 saves, including a couple big ones in the 4th quarter. Indeed, Bucknell needed every one of Christian’s saves tonight, especially this one that came with the game tied and only 36 seconds left in regulation.

Bucknell jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after one quarter, but Yale stormed back in the second with three goals of their own while holding Bucknell scoreless. The strong second quarter gave Yale a 4-3 lead going into halftime. Bucknell responded in a big way in the 3rd quarter with five goals; BU’s Sean OBrien & Connor O’Hara both scored two goals each in the 3rd to help give Bucknell an 8-6 lead after three quarters. However, just when it looked like Bucknell was taking full control of the game, Yale tightened up their defense to again hold the Bison scoreless for an entire quarter, while putting up two goals in the final quarter to tie the game at 8 and take the game into overtime.
It looked like Bucknell’s upset bid was all over in overtime, as Yale scooped up the OT faceoff and drew a pushing foul against the Bison only 15 seconds into OT. Nevertheless, Klipstein came up huge with another save, giving the Bison another shot to knock off the Bulldogs. On the other end, Sean O’Brien took things into his own hands and sent everyone home with an unassisted goal to cap off the upset bid for Bucknell.

Both teams don’t have much time before their next game, as Bucknell plays Mount St. Mary’s and Yale takes on Brown on Saturday April 7th.
And now we go live to @Eri_Barrister interviewing @Bucknell_MLAX after their upset of Yale.
