YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It’s the last big regular season weekend of the 2018 season. Can you believe it? Fall ball, preseason rankings, and early season surprises seem so long ago. Were we ever so you and carefree? We have twenty one games today, so savor every one of them, because before you know it the season will be over.
Anyway, your boy is taking the train across multiple borders to get down to Baltimore for the Johns Hopkins versus *looks at notes* the University of Maryland Maryland Agricultural College. I’ve heard it should be a good game. Adam’s at homecoming today as well, so if you see us this afternoon make sure you come over and say hello!
You can find today’s Big Board directly below. Clicking on the team name will take you to that team’s homepage. Clicking on the Stream cell will take you to the broadcast of that game, while the Live Stats cell will take you to the live stats of that game.
College Crosse Big Board For April 28, 2018.
Games To Watch
Yale vs. Harvard: Few rivalries compare to this one. Yale leads the all-time series 62-38, but Harvard did surprise the Elis last year, so who knows how this one will play out. Yale was this week’s #1 on the IL Media Poll, let’s see how they handle the weight of the crown.
Ohio State vs. Rutgers: I’m not going to go overboard here, but Rutgers needs this win. After last night’s surprise wins by Notre Dame & Virginia, the at-large bubble is getting pretty crowded and I think the Scarlet Knights need this win to solidify their resume. There’s a lot riding in this game for Ohio State today as well. Indeed, a win this afternoon clinches a spot in the Big Ten Tournament for OSU and keeps their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
Game Of The Day
THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY vs. Maryland.
This is OBVIOUSLY the biggest game of the day, since it is the biggest game of the season, and the game’s biggest rivalry. (Shout out to Jake Nazar.) Hopkins & Maryland have been playing each other since 1895, the Blue Jays lead the all-time series 71-43-1. Maryland tries to act like a few of those games were practice or something, so they discount some of Hop’s wins. The following is from the Md game notes before the 2017 JHU vs. MD game:

It’s just sad really. Anyway, as I said above, look for me & Adam at the game today.

In this show we talk about Bill’s background, how he got into lacrosse, Central Jersey food recommendations, and how he feels about Rutgers’ chances at making the tournament his season. We also learn about Bill’s time as a youth coach, how he got his start as a writer, and plenty more in this really fun episode.
Did you read Chris’ Bracketology post? You should!
Welcome to our third edition of College Crosse’s Bracketology series for the 2018 season! Last time we left you, the Bucknell Bison looked like they were inching closer to an at-large spot. Since then, they lost to BU and have put their fate in the hands of the selection committee. That’s not good!
Also, Syracuse lost to Navy, Notre Dame lost to UNC, and Virginia almost lost to Vermont. So nothing is set in stone yet, especially in the ACC.
Here’s all the remaining NCAA teams that are mathematically still eligible for making the NCAA Tournament. Some of these teams have no shot at an at-large bid, but could still win their conference somehow in their conference tournament. Remember, a team has to have at least a .500 record to be eligible for the NCAA Tournament.
Boston College beat Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament semifinal game.
Welcome to another Untitled Project on the College Crossecast Network. In this episode I interview our boy @SkylerGilbert. Skyler’s been a great addition to the site this year and I was really excited to finally talk to him. In my opinion he’s been one of the best women’s lacrosse writers in 2018 and we’re extremely fortunate to have him writing on the site this season.
In this episode we talk about Skyler’s background, how he got into lacrosse, his favorite athletic moment from college, and how awesome it is to grab rim. We also discuss the upcoming women’s lacrosse NCAA Tournament and why Skyler thinks this year’s Stony Brook team can make it all the way to the Final Four. Additionally, if you haven’t had a chance yet, I highly encourage you to read Skyler’s women’s lacrosse conference tournament preview that went up today. It’s a great deep-dive into the women’s game and what to look out for this weekend.
Song Of The Day
It’s homecoming weekend at Hopkins, so let’s kick old school with some Blink 182!!
