College Crosse Recap

Albany vs. Cornell: It was an exciting afternoon in Albany, as the Great Danes escaped with a two goal win in a game they were behind for much of the second half. It was a great day at the dot for Albany’s star faceoff man TD Ierlan, who went 24-for-24 on faceoffs, one shy of tying the NCAA DI record for a 100% faceoff day. Albany was led in scoring by Connor Fields who finished the day with five points (3 Gs & 2 As)

Cornell put up a valiant effort today and it might have ended differently were it not for TD stealing the show. Cornell’s Jordan Dowaik had a big day for the Big Red with four goals, while star sophomore Jeff Teat had a quiet afternoon with only two points (1 G & 1 A).

Syracuse vs. Virginia: The Orange looked like the were going to run away with this one as they were up 10-5 with 12:54 minutes to play, but the Cavs then went on a 6-2 run to almost push the game into overtime. Syracuse’s Tucker Dordevic finished the day with four goals, while goalie Dom Madonna was electric in the net at times as he held UVA to 1 goal combined in the second and third quarters.

Some controversy at the end of the game as both teams got into it at the midfield after the final seconds ticked off the clock. After everything was sorted out the officials ejected Syracuse’s Nate Solomon and Virginia’s Zach Ambrosino. Given the fact the ejections occurred after the game ended there is a chance that neither player will be eligible to play in their team’s next game.
