Game Previews
- Binghamton @ Marist: It’s a Reverse Survivor-off between two teams that we didn’t expect to be struggling. After giving up 21 goals in two straight games, the Bearcats gave up 12 to Canisius, which is an improvement, but still lost the game. Meanwhile, Marist came up a goal short against Air Force last week, and a favorite to win the MAAC this season doesn’t look like what we thought they were.
- Cleveland State @ Denver: After shocking Air Force Friday night, the Vikings have a much tougher task at hand as they take on the Denver Pioneers. Vikings head coach Dylan Sheridan has a deep connection with Pios boss Bill Tierney. Sheridan was an assistant coach under Tierney at Denver for four years and helped win the 2015 National Championship, before leaving for Princeton and later Cleveland State. Sheridan’s wife, Brianne Tierney, is the current head coach of the Kent State women’s lacrosse team that starts up in 2018 and is also Bill Tierney’s daughter. Denver looks to rebound after losing a third quarter lead to Duke last Friday in Durham.
- Ohio State @ Jacksonville: This is the game of the day to listen (and then watch). Jacksonville is 2-2 after a win over Detroit Mercy on Tuesday, but face another top opponent in Ohio State in the Moe’s Lacrosse Classic. The Dolphins lost to Duke and Marquette in their previous big matchups. The Buckeyes are rolling at 4-0 after a win over Hofstra last weekend. Ohio State’s defense will cause Jacksonville some headaches, as the Buckeyes are seventh in the country in scoring defense.
