We continue our 2018 season preview series at College Crossecast with a very special guest. He’s a former Syracuse lacrosse player that now serves as an analyst on ESPNU for lacrosse as well as a sideline reporter during ESPN’s college football coverage. It’s none other than Paul Carcaterra!

“Carc” joins Safe, Chris, and I as we cover a variety of topics. We talk about his upbringing in Yorktown and his days at Syracuse (1:20), his journey into becoming one of the biggest names in lacrosse television (8:30), and being a coach (21:30). We then talk about his time doing college football (26:20) as well as his favorite places to visit. We find out the origins of the popular reLAXin’ segment (31:30) and addresses some of the criticism on social media behind Albany’s lack of ESPNU appearances (50:30).

Because this is College Crossecast and we can’t go one episode without an ACC-B1G debate, we do that (56:00) plus taking a look at the national scope before diving into Paul’s preseason Final Four (1:11:00). We end our conversation with some Super Bowl talk, including Bill Belichick’s personally sent Christmas cookies (1:26:00) and the Sophie’s Choice to end all Sophie’s Choices– who do you pick to share a hotel room if you had to pick between Anish Shroff and Quint Kessenich (1:30:30)?

After our talk, Safe, Chris and I reconvene to discuss Vermont-Furman and this upcoming weekend’s slate of games (1:32:00) and wrap up with the hyper-partisan Super Bowl LII preview (1:39:00).

We thank Paul for spending a gracious amount of time with us and we think you’ll really enjoy our conversation with him. You can listen down below, on Podomatic, or by subscribing on iTunes and Google Play. We’ll also have our Big East and Patriot League previews on the next podcast, so if you’re still hanging on for those, stay tuned!
