What should we expect from the Bonnies in 2019?

Circle These Dates

  • 2/2 (at High Point): A day after Utah plays their first ever game and opens up the 2019 season, the Bonnies will take on High Point in their first ever game. It would’ve been better if it was at St. Bonaventure, but take the warmer weather when you can, even if it’s just a few degrees.
  • 2/23 (at Manhattan): St. Bonaventure gets into MAAC play in their third game of their inaugural season. The Jaspers are a good opponent for the Bonnies’ first conference game, and it wouldn’t be that surprising if the young team gets a win against Manhattan on the road.
  • 3/9 (vs. Detroit Mercy): The home atmosphere should be good for St. Bonaventure’s first ever home game. It’ll be another MAAC contest against the Titans. The Bonnies will be playing their second game in four weeks, so they should have plenty of rest of practice to perhaps make an unbelievable run towards an appearance in the MAAC Tournament with the young team they have.
  • 4/6 (at Cleveland State): No Utah on their schedule, which is a little disappointing. But the closest team to where St. Bonaventure is are the Vikings, who are entering their third year as a program. A good amount of juniors make Cleveland State, but they’ve been getting better with every class that comes in. Mearns hopes the same will happen with his team.
  • 4/9 (vs. Canisius): An easy pick for a game to watch. This won’t be at Canisius, but it’ll be Mearns’ first game against the team he used to coach. It certainly won’t be a bitter game for the Golden Griffins since they just won a MAAC title under head coach Mark Miyashita (who played under Mearns at Canisius), but let’s hope it provides on-field entertainment.
