GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here’s everything you need to know for November 5, 2018.

College Crosse News

Chris wrote a lengthy piece for Troy Nunes on the state of Syracuse lacrosse and the worrying trend of big time recruits decommitting from the Orange & going elsewhere.

Fall ball concluded for the Syracuse Orange about a week and a half ago. Based on my previous experiences, the team will now go through some smaller group practices for the next few weeks before resting up for the start of regular season practices in January. (EDIT: They’re not doing those small group practices, according to a few people close to the program).

The current team has plenty of promise. After being on campus for Alumni Weekend, many of the younger guys have vastly improved from a year ago. Owen Seebold looks like a much different player, same with Lucas Quinn and Jacob Buttermore. Jared Fernandez and Tucker Dordevicare healing up from injuries and will make impacts on the field come January. Many of the new freshmen have caught the eyes of the coaching staff, notably Griffin Cook.

There’s a new strength and conditioning coach as well. Mike Missen joined the program after spending three years with the Kentucky Wildcats working with the men’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, and men’s cheer teams. He also assisted with baseball, men’s soccer, track and field, and swimming and diving. Current players and staff members have raved his performance thus far.

So while the current team has promise for 2019, there’s been growing concern about future members of the Orange.

Here’s a nice lacrosse-syle goal by Penn State men’s hockey player, Evan Barratt.

Blackhawks prospect Evan Barratt is making a name for himself at Penn State. The sophomore center has emerged as a team leader, and Saturday night dazzled the Nittany Lion faithful with an incredible lacrosse-style goal.

Barratt, a 2017 third-round draft pick by Chicago, tallied his third goal of the season on the play to cut the deficit to 3-2 just 3:40 into the third period. Penn State would tie the game late in the frame to send it to overtime, but the Sun Devils’ Johnny Walker scored the game-winning goal for a 4-3 win over the No. 5-ranked Nittany Lions.

Here is a great highlight video of Jacksonville’s busy October.

Nice job by Penn State men’s lacrosse.

What’s Up, PhilaJersey?

Looks like Kendall Jenner and Ben Simmons are back together.

Looks like there might be second chances after all. Apparently, Ben Simmons’ summer fling with Kendall Jenner may not be over. What appeared to be the two celebrities were spotted last week after the Clippers game Thursday at Wells Fargo Center getting into Simmons’ private van after the game. According to a report from TMZ, some fans caught the pair driving off together after Jenner watched the game from a private suite at the arena.

Good luck, soldier: British soldier will attempt to be the first person to cross Antarctica solo in an 1,500km journey.

A British soldier is attempting to be the first man in history to cross Antarctica solo - unsupported, unassisted and using muscle power alone. Captain Louis Rudd’s ambitious journey will involve carrying 150kg of essential food and kit across 1,500km of Antarctic ice in 75 days with no help. The 47-year-old will battle temperatures as low as -50C in the Spirit of Endurance expedition which he is embarking on to honour his late friend Lieutenant Colonel Henry Worsley and as a tribute to explorer Ernest Shackleton’s legacy.
