Previewing Bryant’s 2019 men’s college lacrosse schedule

The Bulldogs always do well in NEC play and hope 2019 can provide them another NEC conference championship.

Circle These Dates

  • 2/9 (at Bucknell): Since playing them on a yearly basis in 2013, the Bison have gotten the best of the Bulldogs. They’ve won five of the six total meetings, including the last four matchups. But all of these games were decided within three goals. Bucknell loses a ton of big contributors from a year ago, so this could be the year Bryant gets a win over a tough Bison squad.
  • 2/26 (at Boston University): It was a hard-fought midweek showdown last year in Smithfield with the Terriers coming out on top in overtime. Chris Gray (4 assists) and John MacLean (4 goals) spearheaded the Terriers to get their third win of the season. It could even be more troubling for Bryant without Kenny Massa at the faceoff X.
  • 3/9 (at Stony Brook): These two teams are meeting for the first time since 2013, when the Bulldogs edged the Seawolves 10-9 at LaValle Stadium. Fast forward six years later and things have certainly changed for both teams, except for the head coaches. Jim Nagle and Mike Pressler are still around and leading their respective teams.
  • 4/6 (vs. Sacred Heart): The NEC might be one of the weaker conferences in 2019 before a bunch of new teams make their debuts. But the top half of the conference has some quality teams, which include Bryant and Sacred Heart. I would not be surprised if this could be a preview of the NEC Championship game.
  • 4/20 (vs. Robert Morris): Or maybe this could be an NEC title preview. The Colonials are the defending conference champs and were ranked for most of the 2018 season. They do lose a few important players on both sides of the ball, but do return goalie Alex Heger along with a few others. Bryant took last year’s regular season meeting in Pittsburgh before falling to Robert Morris in the NEC semifinals by seven goals.
