GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, College Crosse Nation!! Thanks for making us a part of your day! Here are your links for May 3, 2017.
College Crosse News.
I don’t think Tiffany was planning on leaving Brown at the end of last season, but then UVA offered him more money than they were paying Starsia and now Tiffany is in Charlottesville. I’m not saying money is the only factor, but I am saying that life comes at you fast and I can easily see a scenario where Michigan makes an offer to a coach that his school can’t/wont match, and then a name we all thought wouldn’t ever leave is suddenly on a plane to Ann Arbor.
Make sure you say hi if you see any of our hitters at the Final Four!

BOSS Starsia wrote an excellent piece regarding the nine things he thinks would improve the game.
Make the overtime periods in a game 15 minutes long with each coach having one timeout per period. Why are they presently four minutes long with both coaches getting use of a timeout in each one? Timeouts that the coaches almost always use, by the way. It computes to almost eight timeouts available for a single 15-minute period. When Virginia and Maryland played a seven overtime game in 2009, both Dave Cottle and I used every timeout available through the first six periods (24 minutes of lacrosse, 12 timeouts). Brian Carroll scored the winner in the seventh OT when we did not use our available timeout.
End of the year awards are starting to roll out!

Ex-AD & girl’s lacrosse coach is going on trial in video voyeurism case.
Former Palm Beach Gardens High athletic director Bill Weed is out of jail and scheduled to appear in court June 15, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Weed, 50, was released on a $6,000 bond late Monday night following his arrest earlier in the day on charges related to what police say is a case of video voyeurism involving an unsuspecting minor.
Weed is accused of using a camera disguised inside a digital alarm clock to take videos and images of a teen girl. Investigators say a video surveillance device seized by police in February included an SD memory card containing 35 photos and 149 video files. The images show the victim in various stages of undress, including some in which she was nude, according to the arrest report. Weed also faces a charge of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Is Syracuse still a lacrosse school?!?!: Orange no longer attendance champion.
In 2017 the Syracuse Orange had a total of 30,702 attendance at home games which is an average of 4,386 per game. And so, for the first time in a long time, the Syracuse Orange will not hold the largest total attendance in NCAA lacrosse. After a monster 14,353 person crowd took in the Johns Hopkins at Maryland game last weekend, the Maryland Terrapins surpassed the total SU attendance for the 2017 season. Johns Hopkins sits third, beaten by SU by nearly 8,000 fans, and it took an extra home game to do it. Interestingly enough, the Michigan Wolverines are ranked fifth in total attendance with 22,031 and only played six home games. In terms of average attendance per game, Syracuse is also second with 4,386 just behind Maryland with 5,248 fans per game. Michigan lands third with 3,672 fans per game. It is the first time since the 2012-13 season when Navy edged the out the Orange that Syracuse is not first in average fans per game.
What’s Up, Philly?
For Jersey Shore pizza king Charles Bangle, the summer of 2017 is shaping up to be a personal and professional roller-coaster ride. In June, the neon marquee of the historic Strand movie theater is expected to glow again on the boardwalk of Ocean City, N.J., to announce the debut of a new Manco & Manco pizzeria/restaurant in the theater's 10,000-square-foot space. Then, a week after Labor Day, Bangle is due to report to a federal prison to begin serving a 15-month term for tax evasion. It is unclear where he will be assigned in September.

Whoops!: Gluten free diets may be linked to an increase in heart disease.
Researchers warned people with no medical need to avoid gluten not to adopt the potentially harmful fad. They found those who avoided gluten typically had a lower intake of whole grains, which are known to be beneficial to cardiovascular health. People who ate the least gluten were 15 per cent more likely to suffer from coronary heart disease than those who ate the most. Gluten is a protein found in some grains, such as wheat, rye and barley.
