Game Previews

Villanova @ Denver: This should be a great start to our Sunday Funday, as Villanova has won five straight games, including overtime wins over Maryland and most recently Marquette. They’re being projected as an at-large team in the first set of Bracketology posts, and this is another huge game for the Cats. Meanwhile for Denver, they got a career performance from Connor Cannizzaro with his nine points in a win last week against Georgetown. It appeared that the Pioneers would walk with the Big East championship earlier in the season. But now with Villanova streaking and Providence looking solid as well, does that change?

And now...SUNDAY NIGHT!

Johns Hopkins @ Ohio State: The first of the two night games is probably the best game of the day. Hopkins has caught fire once again, thanks in part to the return of FOGO Hunter Moreland, the play of attackman Kyle Marr, who has 12 points in the past two games, and the return of Brock Turnbaugh in the cage over Gerald Logan. Moreland faces off against Buckeye stud Jake Withers, who dominated Penn State’s FOGOs last week in the loss to Penn State. Ohio State needs a win after losing their last two games to Notre Dame and the aforementioned Nittany Lions. They need a win, and what better place to do it than in Ohio Stadium, where they crushed Denver three weeks ago.

North Carolina @ Virginia: This is a must-win game for both teams, not only for their NCAA Tournament chances, but also for their odds of getting into the ACC Tournament. Both teams don’t have any, and UNC has Syracuse and Notre Dame after this Sunday. They blew a 7-1 lead to Duke at home last Sunday, and are 5-5 on the season. It’s also BOSS Joe Breschi’s birthday!

For Virginia, they’re 7-4 on the season, but only have Duke left on their ACC slate, and the Blue Devils are looking very hot as of late. Virginia has played in many one-goal games this season, they’re 3-4 in them with their most recent one being a win over Richmond, their fifth straight one-goal game. Both teams are on the bubble, and a loss could be devastating.
