Notable Game Recaps

Brown 13, Providence 12 (2OT): The Bears trailed the Friars by three at halftime, but managed to outscore Providence 7-3 beginning at the 3:50 mark of the third quarter en route to another Ocean State Cup win. Spearheading the win was senior Dylan Molloy, who had a hat-trick and two assists on the night, along with LSM Larken Kemp, who added a pair of goals and one assist. Luke McCaleb added a goal and two assists, while Jack Kniffin and Jackson Newsome scored twice, with Kniffin’s second being the game-winner. Ted Ottens went 21-of-29 from the face-off X and also scored a goal, while goaltender Phil Goss made 13 saves.

With his five points, Molloy became the 11th player in NCAA history to reach 300 career points. He’s just one point behind ninth all time and four points behind seventh all time. He’s also one goal behind seventh all time in career goals scored. Meanwhile, Kemp’s three points puts him two points behind Mason Poli’s 55 career points for a long pole.

For the Friars, senior attackman Austin Goltz scored four goals, Brendan Kearns and Sean Leahey each had two goals and one assist, and Nick Hatzipetrakos had a goal and an assist. Friar goaltender Tate Boyce also made 13 saves. I think whatever slim chances the Friars had of an at-large are gone with the loss, so it’s Big East or bust for the squad.

*Ed. Note: The Providence stream during OT was very jumpy, so it wasn’t good to use that for #WhitneyInOT. Once we get better film, we will have that #WhitneyInOT goal ready.

Hartford 14, Sacred Heart 12: After leading 6-3 at half, the Hawks gave up six goals to the Pioneers and the eventual lead to go down 11-9 early in the fourth quarter, but managed to find their way back to a win. Midfielder Alec Brown had four goals and two assists, as he surpassed the 100-point mark for his career. Jaedon Henderson had three goals and one assist, while fellow attackman Dylan Jinks also scored three times. No Dylan Protesto in this game at the face-off X, but the group of Nicholas Vasquez, Spencer Andrews, and Nolan Little went 12-of-29 on draws. Ryan Vanderford stopped 13 shots.

For Sacred Heart, Max Tuttle scored four times, while Bryce Jurk had three goals of his own. Brian Masi had two goals and two assists, and Joe Saggese had two goals and one assist, but Brooks Dutton only made four saves.
