College Crosse Roundup: Marquette Comes From Behind, Binghamton Continues Hot Start

The Golden Eagles got a much-needed nonconference win, while Binghamton continues to impress.

Game Recaps

Marquette 7, Air Force 6: The Golden Eagles were down two entering the fourth, but managed to score the game’s final three tallies to get a much needed win over the Falcons. Ryan McNamara and John Wagner led all scorers with four points, with McNamara recording a hat-trick, while Andy DeMichiei tallied two goals. Griffin Connor had three caused turnovers on defense. For the Falcons, Nick Hruby led the way with three goals, and Grant Gould tallied two more. Mitch Rose got the start in net over freshman Paxton Boyer and stopped seven shots. Marquette was three-for-four on man-up situations, including a perfect two-for-two in the final quarter.

Binghamton 11, Canisius 7: The Bearcats continue their hot start to the 2017 season with a win over their upstate friends from Buffalo. Tom Moore had three goals and four assists to lead the way offensively for Binghamton, with the support of Tyler DeLuca and Thomas McAndrew each scoring twice as well. Canisius was spearheaded by Ryan McKee’s hat-trick.

Mount St. Mary’s 14, VMI 8: The Mountaineers got their third win in four games with a victory over VMI. After going down 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Mount scored all three goals in the second quarter to take the lead for good, and also scored seven of the game’s final nine goals. Chris DiPretoro (3 goals, 1 assist), Bubba Johnson, and Jack Mangan (2 goals, 2 assists each) finished with four point performances on offense, while Matt Vierheller made 10 saves. Wesley Saunders, Brad Nardella (3 goals each), and John Daniel (2 goals) scored for VMI.
