Maryland 13 vs. Syracuse 7 Maryland Recap

College Crosse Recap.

The Terps train kept right on rolling today against the Orange. In a dominating effort, Maryland punched its ticket to Philly with a 13-7 victory over Syracuse.  While Syracuse was able to keep it close at times, including only being down 3 with 1:50 left in the 3rd, the Terps were always able to respond with a quick run or long possession to stamp out any hopes of a come back.

The story of the day was Matt Rambo, who finished the game with 4 goals and 2 assists. While Matt was sublime throughout the game, he had plenty of help. Pat Young had a monster effort today and scored 4 tallies on the afternoon. Additionally, former Orange, Dylan Maltz, had a hat-trick against his old mates, including a back-to-back spurt that got Maryland a 4 goal lead with 12:21 left in the 2nd.

While Maryland had plenty of firepower for the Orange, their defense more than held its own as well. Kyle Bernlohr had a wonderful game, and finished with 15 saves. Several stops were excessive and certainly stymied the normally effective Syracuse offense. The Terp D was strong throughout the game and held Syracuse's All-Everything senior, Dylan Donahue, to only 1 assist.

The Orange were led in scoring by Tim Barber, who finished with 2 goals and 1 assist. Nate Solomon chipped in with 2 goals as well. Syracuse played well in several areas of the game; the Orange outshot the Terps, won faceoffs 15/24, and had 4 less turnovers than Maryland (8-12). But the Orange also went 1-5 on the EMO and were unable to contain Maryland's offense.
