College Lacrosse Schedule for February 16, 2014

TV listings, video streams, live stats, and an open thread. It's pretty much the place to be.

Streeter Lecka

Today is this, basically:

Otherwise, here are your three highlights for today:

  • Virginia at Drexel: The day starts with a bang. Drexel-Virginia has been overlooked in recent seasons as a legitimate thing of beauty: Virginia has won the last two matchups against the Dragons by a total of two goals (the Cavaliers have won the last six games against the Dragons, peeling off a half-dozen season-opening victories against Drexel since a 10-11 setback against the Dragons in 2007). Conditions are ripe for stuff to explode in Philadelphia, with Drexel rolling deep with tactical nuclear weapons and the 'Hoos just as capable at embarrassing opposing keepers. This feels like a 25-goal bonanza and your eyes need to monitor the carnage.
  • Villanova at Lehigh: Lehigh has feasted on inferior competition early this season (back-to-back 13-6 victories over Furman and Marquette do not indicate a particularly imposing opening slate), but the level of competition increases today in a vitally important date against the Wildcats. The Mountain Hawks' Patriot League draw is tough, getting back-to-back games against Loyola and Bucknell at the start of March; Lehigh's game today against a solid Villanova team is the team's last opportunity to test themselves before anarchy begins. As for the Wildcats, it's Villanova's first go in a major season of transition for Mike Corrado's cats. Can John Kluh -- he's eight Harry Potter books tall -- carry Villanova's fortunes against a stout Lehigh defense?
  • Albany at Syracuse: The last place on the planet I want to be today: In Albany's or Syracuse's crease.

Here's Sunday's full schedule. If there are errors, please let me know. (The Holy Cross-St. John's game was originally slated for ESPN3, but it doesn't look like there will be a broadcast today due to the date change for the game.) I'll fix/populate links to live stats and video as the day progresses (if necessary).

This is your open thread for Sunday. My favorite rental car is a spaceship. People will be around to yak about whatever is tickling their fancy.
