College Lacrosse Schedule for April 2, 2014

Chris Trotman

There are four games this evening.

Your Russian dashboard cam animated .gif/video of the day:

"Yeah, Svetlana . . . Going to be late . . . No, I hit a bear . . . Yes, again . . . No, I'm not riding the bear home."

Anyway, there are four games today. Here are your highlights:

  • Robert Morris at Maryland: This is only a highlight because of the stylistic differences between the two teams: Robert Morris is currently ranked sixth nationally in total possessions per 60 minutes of play, clocking in at almost 72 possessions per regulation game; Maryland is currently ranked 65th nationally in total possessions per 60 minutes of play, clocking in at just 57 possessions per regulation game. These teams are at opposite ends of the pace spectrum, and that difference -- jet pack lacrosse versus easy livin' hammock lacrosse -- is what makes Colonials-Terrapins something more than another opportunity for Maryland to murder an opponent.
  • St. John's at Rutgers: The Johnnies are a slight favorite tonight in Piscataway but it isn't by much. This is decidedly a "toss up" scenario on the banks of the Raritan, and the Scarlet Knights -- coming off of a gut-wrenching loss to Marquette over the weekend -- could be uniquely positioned to give the Johnnies their first loss in four games. The biggest factor in the outcome tonight could be Joseph Nardella at the dot for Rutgers and whether St. John's can create stops out of face-off losses to keep the game's possession margin in relative balance. This is a major moment for both teams in Big East play -- the Red Storm are looking to move to 3-0 in league play while the Scarlet Knights are hoping to even their conference record at 2-2 -- and tonight's result could help shape the volition of both teams as the Big East continues to unfold.
