Lacrosse the Internet: June 5, 2013

Only eight more months until the season starts.

This is obviously your favorite site, but other people actually write important stuff sometimes. Now is that sometimes.

How To Pronounce Tewaaraton
I . . . I had no idea.

College Lacrosse Should Be Considered as a Big Time College Sport
This past weekend, I had the greatest time at a college sporting event that I had ever had before. No I'm not talking about a La Salle men's basketball game. I'm actually talking about the 2013 NCAA Lacrosse Championships which pinned the four best teams from Division I against each other and then the Division II and Division III teams played for their respected championships.

Lacrosse championships were quite an experience
All five games produced some of the most exciting lacrosse I've seen in recent years -- Cornell senior Rob Pannell's NCAA career scoring record, Syracuse's last-second, come-from-behind win against Denver, Mercyhurst's fourth-quarter rally against Le Moyne that fell one goal short, the back-and-forth D-III final between Rochester Instiute of Technology and Stevenson, Duke's dominant second half against Syracuse to win the D-I championship.

Pannell Punctuates Epic Career With Tewaaraton Trophy
Rob Pannell has been named the winner of the 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy, the premier award in collegiate lacrosse, in a ceremony held this evening at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. He becomes the Big Red's second recipient of the award, joining Max Seibald '09, and Cornell is now one of four schools to boast multiple Tewaaraton Trophy winners (Duke, Syracuse, UVA).
